Types of Capsule Houses: Designs, Audiences & Prices
A capsule house is not one product — it is a product family. By type, the range runs from a 13 m² compact pod to a 58 m² flagship suite, and each type carries its own design logic, its own audience and its own price tier. This guide walks through the ROVELLC lineup by type: what each one is for, who it suits, and what it costs.

Each Type in Detail
1. Compact Budget (13–18.5 m²)
The entry tier. Small but efficiently planned, with a complete bathroom, shipped in a standard 40HQ container at the lowest investment. Lead models: A205 (13 m², $16,300 market price), M206 (15.6 m², $18,200), E305 (18.5 m², $19,400). Suited to budget travelers, first-time buyers and owners who want a self-contained pod on a small lot.
2. Standard Living (26–33 m²)
The "actually live in it" tier: a full bathroom plus zoned living space, with layout customization available on semi-assembled models. Lead models: A212 (26 m², $26,200), E212 (30.6 m², $29,600), E310 (33 m², $27,300). The most popular category overall — it covers backyard guest units, short-term rentals and long-term living.
3. Long-Format Multi-Purpose (30.6 m²)
The most flexible model in the range. A 12 m long-format layout ships semi-assembled in a standard 40HQ and is finished on site — components are light and the unit can be relocated if your plans change. Work zone and rest zone can be zoned independently. Lead model: M212 ($35,900). Built for remote workers, work-and-live buyers and anyone who may move.
4. Resort & View (31–38 m²)
Fully assembled large units with balconies or open views, delivered on a special 40FR flat rack and positioned with a crane. Lead models: S312 (38 m² with balcony, $36,500), V309 (31 m², balcony optional, $30,400), E312 (38 m², $30,300), R312 (38 m², $33,500). Balcony versions give guests the view they photograph — the natural choice for resorts, campsites and premium glamping.
5. Family Two-Bedroom (38 m²)
The only true two-bedroom layout in the lineup, designed for family stays and two people living together long-term. Fully assembled, 40FR delivery, priced about 5–8% above the single-bedroom 38 m² model. Lead model: V312 ($35,700).
6. Flagship Large (58 m²)
The largest multi-room unit in the range, semi-assembled and shipped in a standard 40HQ — avoiding flat-rack logistics despite its size. Lead model: E412 ($59,200). Built for large resort units, premium long-stay projects and buyers who want one unit that does everything.
7. Hot-Climate Edition
The standard model with reinforced insulation, engineered for the US South, deserts and tropical summers. Lead model: M212-H (30.6 m² hot-climate edition, FOB $35,010 — about $3,400 above the standard M212).

What Drives the Price of Each Type
Size and layout. Area is the first driver — within a type, bigger costs more; on a per-square-meter basis the 38 m² tier is the most economical (e.g. E312 ≈ $797/m²), while compact pods carry a higher unit price (A205 ≈ $1,254/m²).
Product line and shipping. Semi-assembled models ship in standard 40HQ containers at lower freight; large fully assembled models need the special 40FR flat rack, and that logistics premium is built into the price. At the same size, standard-container models are cheaper on logistics — a key reason E312 ($30,300) undercuts the same-size S312 ($36,500).
Configuration premiums. Balcony versions (V309, S312), the two-bedroom layout (V312) and the hot-climate edition (M212-H) each add a defined premium over the base model; semi-assembled models support layout customization, quoted per configuration.
Materials and workmanship. Light steel frames, aluminum composite panels and low-E double-glazed windows are the core cost items. As a typical industry range, materials and workmanship run about 25–40% of the total and plumbing/electrical fit-out about 30–45% — always confirm with the factory's actual specification and formal quotation.
FAQ
Which type is the cheapest?
The compact budget tier — A205 (13 m²) starts at $16,300 market price EXW, shipped in a standard 40HQ.
Which type is the best value?
It depends on the use. For the best per-square-meter value, the 38 m² tier (E312/R312) has the lowest unit cost; for the smallest investment, go compact; for resorts that need a photogenic product, the balcony models (S312/V309) trade a small premium for a marketable view.
What is the difference between market price and reseller price?
Market price is the standard public EXW price. Reseller price is the discounted tier for dealers and volume partners — roughly 15–20% below market across the range, provided on request.
Can every type be customized?
Semi-assembled models (A/M/E series) support layout customization; fully assembled models are delivered in fixed factory configurations, with balcony, two-bedroom and hot-climate options available. Each configuration is quoted separately.
Final Verdict
Choose the type first, then the model. Define your use (short stays, long-term living, rental operation or office), your site (size, climate, delivery access) and your budget — the type list narrows to two or three candidates, and only then does price comparison within the same type mean anything.
